The Katsina State Internal Revenue Service (KTIRS) recently organized a 2-day workshop at El-Farham Event Centre, Kano, aimed at strengthening informal sector revenue collection across the state. The workshop brought together the 34 Local Government Chairmen of Katsina State.
In his welcoming address, Executive Chairman Alh. Muhammad Isyaku stated that the workshop's objective was not only to discuss revenue collection strategies but also to prepare participants for the implementation of the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 by January 1st, 2026. He revealed that a committee has been set up to assess potential revenue losses arising from the new tax act and promised another meeting with LGAs and stakeholders to discuss the way forward upon completion of the assignment.
“This workshop is about preparing our LGAs for the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 and ensuring revenue sustainability for Katsina State.”
The Executive Chairman sought the cooperation of LGA Chairmen for the project's success and strengthening revenue administration in the state. Representatives from Access Bank, Mr. Adedayo Ojo and Mr. Babatunde Adewale, presented the Revpay application POS Terminals workflows for informal revenue collection across the 34 LGAs.


The Hon. Commissioner, Ministry for Local Government and Emirates Affairs, Hon. Bishir Gambo, received the Informal Sector IGR account documents on behalf of the LGAs. Participants were educated on timely remittance of revenues and accountability.

The workshop ended positively, with participants' questions and feedback addressed.
